If you genuinely think the interviewer was unfair or off, then by all means contact the admissions office and report it. That's what sensible people do. Not rant on DCUM.

The poster is afraid that a person will be harshly or negatively judge his/her child, in a way that is not consistent with most interviewer's standards, resulting in a negative impact to the child's application.


Seeing as interviewers are posting statements on this forum that they are on the look out for "disastrous" candidates so that they can give the admissions committee a warning, that would seem to be a legitimate fear.


What if the kid is disturbing? Hmm. Some are.

If this is your first time through, you haven't heard the stories of uncomfortable or inappropriate alumni conducting interviews. Some schools aren't training well and many people are afraid to object to inappropriate questions or requests coming from these people.

Wow, this thread went to crazytown. I interview and my kids have done interviews. It’s a cup of coffee and a friendly conversation, nothing more. Good practice for the kids; helps me feel connected to my university.

Job interviews have Federal Laws dictating what is legal to be asked. Furthermore, if bias is present, get ready to be sued.
