Some people like to socialize at the bus stop. Some people like to go out and get a breath of fresh air in the morning.
Some people use the walk to the bus stop as an opportunity to chat with their kids.

Not sure why you care? My husband walks our kids two houses over to the bus stop every morning just because he likes to do it. Nothing weird or nefarious, it just makes him feel good.

I am there because I don’t trust my ADHD 5th grader before his meds kick in not to do something stupid. If I had a different child I wouldn’t feel the need.

We all have our different fears. So many parents cannot handle their 14 year old at a sleepover. Some hate the idea of having their 6 year old child walk alone to a bus stop.

Always great idea to know your neighbors in general so if there is a hiccup with no bus showing up and a parent needs to drive kids to school everyone can help each other out.

Also our hoa has a parent what’s app so many of us don’t do drop off or pick up and help each other out if we are running late with work commitments.

Parenting is hard and it’s a blessing to have support network. And the network is so helpful to have wherever you live. Who knows? Maybe one of these people are your people, and just might become great friends.

I live on a corner where there is a school bus stop. I don't mind the kids it is the parents I can't stand. They are louder than the kids and hang around for a while even after the school bus leaves. They have no sense that they are standing 3 feet outside of someone's window. They sometimes bring dogs so my dogs go crazy. They block my driveway, the park in front of a fire hydrant, they idle for a long time, etc.

At my school dropoff there's the same thing. I arrived 40 minutes late after a kids' dentist appointment and the hen party was still going on. I really want to know what on earth they are talking about every single morning.

Half the kids at the middle school bus stop have parents present. I agree it’s a bit odd but to each their own.

Interesting bc in some parts of Pa the parents required to be at bus stop, or bus driver won’t pickup/dropoff. I’m not sure where you lived but it seems odd
