Oh, please! Mick Jagger, and about a thousand other singers. Lyle Lovett. I think good looks can carry someone further if their voice is just okay, but ugly people with talent can definitely be successful.

He is the greatest writer on the planet.
But I think some people have issues w/his liberal viewpoints.
• Smoky the Bear.
He has been discussing and cautioning people on fire safety for generations.
He was definitely before his time.
I love how you first list people you believe shouldn’t be famous solely because of their looks, then say that Pete Davidson, who is literally one of the ugliest people in existence, is underrated.

I thought Valerie Bertanelli was amazingly hilarious/affable on Hot in Cleveland. I am a millennial so am not aware of her 80s past. She was just so good in that show. I wish they had continued the show without Betty if she no longer wanted to do it

Kanye. His music is overrated. Designs ugly shoes.

Ed Sheeran is proving this isn’t the case anymore. Most ppl are ugly, so they appreciate not every star being gorgeous.
I don't think Ed Sheeran is ugly at all. He looks like an average guy. Not model handsome, but he has a friendly face and he works out. He also has a nice voice. Cut the guy some slack.
I enjoy his voice but he still looks like a muppet. If that’s average to you then we simply have different taste.
I think he's pretty cute, actually.

Rod Stewart looks like a raisin; always has.
Susan Boyle achieved success.
James Taylor is a regular-looking guy.
I find Adele to be gorgeous, but she certainly doesn't "fit the mold."
Ella Fitzgerald was a heavy-set black woman in a world dead-set against black women.
Bryan Adams is pock-marked.
There are plenty of talented singers and singer-songwriters who are not "the package." Find a better argument.

I'm not sure either Jamie Fox nor Steve Carrell is underrated; maybe their talent is under-appreciated. Both are big stars and Fox has an Oscar for a dramatic part.
Bill Murray has a limited range IMHO. Jim Carey's acting is hard to separate from his own mania.
