They were our neighbors here in McLean and we never had an unpleasant experience with Ethel or the kids/family. It's unfair to call them trashy. Stop piling on.
Perhaps you were aware of their reputation for hiring tons of very poorly compensated babysitters.
And taking all the boys to Tyson’s department stores to buy suits or blazers for Kennedy events and then trying to return them afterward.
I suspect that Bobby/Ethel were very cash-strapped with Joe Kennedy Sr. holding a tight grip on the family purse-strings. Still it is not ethical to return clothing once worn like that, and certainly not ethical to pay employees/babysitters unfair wages.
Joe was dead and the family had tons of money.

SOAR-sha
It is a common Irish name. It's lovely.
sounds more like the name of a rare protected animal specie.
aren't you clever?
It means freedom. Her father gave her the name after being unjustly held in a British jail for a crime he did not commit. Listen to the Pogues for gods sake.

I honestly have never heard of her before this tragedy, but it is awful how she is being painted as a drug abuser in this thread.

SOAR-sha

Dp. I was told and heard it pronounced Sur-sha, rhymes with inertia.
No, it only rhymes with inertia if you have a Dublin accent, like actress Saoirse Ronan. My Northern Irish colleague pronounces it (his daughter's name) like SOAR-sha. Other Irish people I know pronounce it more like SOAR-sha, too. I can't render their accents phonetically in exactly the right way, but that's the closest I can get. Imagine a little twist of an "ee" sound in the first syllable, but it sounds more like SOAR.
Are you saying Saoirse Ronan is saying her name wrong? I don't think so! Perhaps both pronouncations are correct, pp?
Here’s a link to Saoirse Ronan teaching people how to say her name. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9xCr6IQtYqk
Sounds like a f.....hassle ,having to teach people how to pronounce your name .
It’s always a hassle to deal with dumb people.
Not as dumb as giving kids names where they spend the rest of their lives being irked that nobody cares to pronounce their names properly . Sorha? Not it's like INERTIA!!! Nah forget that it's Soar-sha, oh wait maybe Sri-RACHA ?!? Hmm ok

Yes, both pronunciations are correct, but the way Saorse Ronan says it is not the most common way. A PPP thought that there was only one way to say it because of what she'd heard the actress say.
A bit like Clara as either KLAR-ah or KLAIR-ah.
Well. The other pp said there was only the northern Irish way. Clearly thete ate many words you can pronounce differently. I was only pointing out another way.
Your close reading skills are terrible.
Ha! You are quoting ME. So I would say you're reading skills are worse.
