We've traveled, including flying long distances, since our kids were little. Yes, there were times when they'd be crying in the car and we'd be wishing we could just turn around, but those moments were fleeting. Same as the moments when they were at home and crying and we were wishing it would just stop... Point is, nothing about kids is perfectly easy all the time, so you can either have your kids not sleep or cry or fuss at home, or you could do it somewhere else where all the other hours are more awesome than when you're at home. But I guess some of you will never get to experience that. How sad for you.

I feel sorry for people so small-minded they can't comprehend that not everyone is like them.

Vacations are not a sign of moral superiority. They're a hobby.

Please, my mom took me and my sister to India by herself in the 80s---people these days can't go to target these days without proclaiming what adversity they went through for picking up some unnecessary home decor with kids

Guess what? I grew up in the 80s and we never traveled anywhere. We’re both alive and well.
Vacations are not a necessity. Why are people so involved in OP going?

And you think your mother never complained? If it’s like most Indian families I know, there were a lot of helping hands when she arrived. And, well, it’s really irrelevant to OPs question whether your mom liked to travel with kids.

No. If you read the travel forum on this website there are often threads about it not being worth it to travel with young kids.

Wow, you're really missing the boat here. You should get out more. Oh wait.

I mean, you're the one claiming that it's a huge personal failing to miss a summer vacation for a year or two. So entitled, so small-minded, so judgmental.

You have such a chip on your shoulder about this issue you can't even see straight. But do whatever makes you feel better. The rest of us will go enjoy our trips.

There's still a lot of missing info. How helpful is the DH? Is the house close to the beach or not very close? Would it be possible to return to the house in the middle of the day for naps, or would the logistics be awful?

I would sympathize with OP if the DH is unhelpful and if the logistics work out such that she either needs to be out of the house all day with a grumpy baby or stuck alone in the guest house all day.

In this case, I'd send dad and the older on their own.

Oh for the love...going on a trip to a house in another state is not elaborate.

Lol right? I cannot think of a more ideal trip.

I feel bad for the PPs missing out on such great experiences because trips are slightly harder with little kids. But trips like this are not THAT hard. Get some perspective people.

I really wish OP would return and tell us whether she has a helpful DH, or whether she'd be stuck with full time baby duty.
