And the subtleties in this correspondence demonstrates the dance that is at play here. It is a game of chicken between the owners of the fields and the clubs renting them. If the club cancels then they are on the hook for the field rentals, if the County, etc. close the fields then the club can get a refund. And until the best the organizational best interests are met then teams and parents are held hostage.

That will be disappointing for the kids that were going to play in that tournament, but kudos to the leadership of that tournament for communicating effectively with the teams that were participating in that tournament and making a decision prior to everyone traveling to it.
That was the primary complaint in this thread about last weekend's girls Premier Cup for the U14s and below: If the fields are not playable, then just cancel the tournament for those age groups, instead of forcing everyone to travel to it, and then make decisions to cancel some games, reduce game times to 15 minute halves so all teams can play another game on a muddy field, etc.

The reason US soccer is not competitive is because we idiots saying "I walked six miles uphill in the snow both ways to school before soccer practice" and other dumb ass statements like the one above. Yes, I saw the Pele movie from Disney too, but you do realize the world has changed quite a bit since the little picture you've put in your head somehow.
A kid with professional-level capabilities is pulled out of whatever pitch they are on at about 8 or 9 years old and put into a much more manicured and professional system. By 12 they'll rarely play on anything less than a professionally cared for pitch or turf, practicing indoors and outdoors in a club that has the means to support basic groundskeeping requirements. Hell Messi was grabbed by a professional side at age 6 and by 13 was at Barcelona.
