Thanks for remembering to include Poolesville. Although it's less than third Blair's size, it houses the other STEM magnet. Your approach is helpful because the schools are demographically very different. Poolesville is very homogenous whereas Blair is the most diverse school in Maryland. This is the best way to get a meaningful comparison between these schools with the data that is available.

I'm pretty sure Blair has been ranked the most diverse in MD by a number of places including Niche.

Diverse and high-performing. Clearly the best of both worlds.

It's amazing that Blair consistently outperforms these schools in any apples to apples comparison.

OP - buy the house that you love in the neighborhood that you like. For schools, give them a chance and if it doesn't work in K-8 there are less expensive parochial private schools that are very popular with people in SS. For HS wait until your child is older and knows his/hers interests and strengths and then choose the school through the consortium that best fits his/her needs.

If you want a high scoring school where everyone achieves close to the top range then move west, Blair or Kennedy is not that school. If you like the idea of a school that offers specialization then the DCC is a good option for your child to take more courses in subjects he/she is passionate about in high school.

The facts presented here suggest that if you want an even HIGHER scoring school move to Blair.

The above scores include the magnet kids for all schools. They are the official published scores not something made up on someone's clipboard cherry picking just a few students to be misleading. I'm surprised at how high Whitman scored. What is even more surprising is that Whitman, BCC, Churchill,WJ and Wootton all feed into the Blair SMACs program so the top STEM students from those clusters are probably in the Blair magnet program yet Blair is still WAY behind them in SAT scores.
