Go through life without white people qualifying their sideways compliments to with "for a black woman."

Wear my natural hair out to work without someone putting their hands in it, saying I look "wild," or insinuating that it's unprofessional.

Came back to this thread to post this: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/02/us/delta-black-doctor-racial-profiling.html

The sadder part is not the incident but that an MGH doctor and instructor felt compelled to get a wallet-sized version of her license for this exact reason.

Lufthansa has a doctor on board program that invites doctors to register, so the flight attendants know if a doctor is on board. it makes sense to double check that the person helping is actually a doctor, but agree in this case it was too much checking. I think it would help if other airlines had something similar.

It would help if Delta had fixed this problem, which also happened two years ago.

When I first saw this week's news about this, I literally thought it was a re-print from 2016.
Dear Black Doctors,
If I am choking or otherwise potentially dying and you know how to help me, please do. I will not sue you, and will thank you and defend you.
Thank you in advance,
A White Woman (whose best two doctors are not white)

Something similar happened to a family member a few years ago. She is an AA physician and was trying to help someone who was choking nearby in a nice restaurant. They tried to stop her from assisting, apparently not believing that she was a physician.

My spouse also makes sure to show his identification on flights when assisting patients in distress--he always has it on him. He has sometimes been questioned by patients who also don't initially think he's the attending physician.

Yup, because a white lady will start yelling at you, saying she makes $125K a year and asking if your baby daddy lives in the neighborhood.

You also can't sell water on the street as an 8 year old.

You can't sleep in your school's common areas.

You can't study in your school's library.

And of course -- you can't go get a snack at a convenience store without getting shot dead.

Then the white woman demands to know what apartment they live in and how much they pay in rent. Like the white lady refusing entry last week to a black guy in a high end apartment building. So blacks can only live in poor housing without being questioned by white residents.
