That brings up a good point: why hasn't McLean soccer at all levels been made co-ed? It is long overdue.
No other club has co-ed training and/or teams.
That is irrelevant when it comes to the fair and equitable thing to do.
I happen to believe that co-ed play should be more prevalent, but not because it would be the fair and equitable thing to do. Travel soccer is intended to be a meritocracy so if a girl can play on a boys team then so be it.
Co-ed is a bit different than simply girls making boys teams though. And I would have no problem with co-ed teams combined by merit. There is no physiological reason girls can't play with boys through 12 years old. Girls are just as fast, just a strong and just as technical.
The differences change obviously at 12-13 years old with the actual advantage in size, speed and strength given mostly to girls but by 13-14 the wind changes back into the boys advantage. After 14 years old only a small handful of girls are truly capable of playing with and against boys. When older girls teams do play against boys it is usually 17 year old girls playing against 14 year old boys.

No particular insight here on the coach but wouldn't you want to pick on the strength of the entire ecnl staff and not just one particular coach? Just thinking longer term.
Uhhh .... No. That's stupid. The coach matters every year. Who cares about Clyde coaching some.older team is your coach sux.
