2008 green plays in ncsl and has an easy time in the leage judging by the standings which were published at the end of the season. The top team has a definite size/speed/physical advantage against the teams they played as is the case for other large clubs in the area like loudon, arlington, etc. 2008 white plays in CCL 2.

I happen to believe that co-ed play should be more prevalent, but not because it would be the fair and equitable thing to do. Travel soccer is intended to be a meritocracy so if a girl can play on a boys team then so be it.
Co-ed is a bit different than simply girls making boys teams though. And I would have no problem with co-ed teams combined by merit. There is no physiological reason girls can't play with boys through 12 years old. Girls are just as fast, just a strong and just as technical.
The differences change obviously at 12-13 years old with the actual advantage in size, speed and strength given mostly to girls but by 13-14 the wind changes back into the boys advantage. After 14 years old only a small handful of girls are truly capable of playing with and against boys. When older girls teams do play against boys it is usually 17 year old girls playing against 14 year old boys.
Yes, I think the idea of meritocracy makes sense perfect sense. It also helps open some new doors for development for girls when they have maxed out opportunities against girls. You can only play up so far before it becomes a contest in physicality, and not a true technical challenge.

It was a feeder and will be again for a good 08 who doesn't want to spend another year playing on a U12 pre-ecnl team that competes in NCSL. That is the big problem in McLean now.

Uhhh .... No. That's stupid. The coach matters every year. Who cares about Clyde coaching some.older team is your coach sux.
The 08 team is pretty good. If you are considering joining from another team you could contact coaching staff about joining for Spring season.
Don’t hold your breath for McLean to announce tryouts/ID sessions or coaches for next year any time soon. My sense is that they don’t understand that an early announcement could help them with retention/recruiting.
On the other hand if your daughter is really good you may want to look at nearby DA options (Washington Spirit/Arlington). They will probably both have ID sessions for 07 early next year and would probably be interested in a strong 08 for their 07 teams. You could contact the coaches if interested in coming to a practice before ID session.

As an 08 there is still a couple of very important developmental years before concerns about the ECNL staff should matter.

McLean girls have higher quality teams than McLean boys do in most age groups. It would not be fair to have them beat up on the boys.
