I just want this part of my ethnic background acknowledged. The fact that you are all hating on it so much proves my point. You refuse to let me say this is part of my genetic background.

It doesn’t mean someone who isn’t Ashkenazi is less Jewish; it simply means there is a genetic ethnic group that is Jewish.

Why is that so hard for you all to accept? It’s people like you who made me feel I had to fight for this acknowledgement. You all want to claim this ethnicity is fake, or caring about it is indicative of a belief in some sort of racial purity. It’s really offensive.

Why is it important to you that this is genetic? You know that Jews come in all colors from all over the world. I find the insistence on this Ashkenazi genetic Jewish identity is some kind of twisted Jewish racial purity.

I’m only 50% Ashkenazi. I also have Maltese, Japanese, and Norwegian ancestry. My husband is 3/4ths Ashkenazi and the rest is Irish and British.

I’m simply stating a genetic fact. Ashkenazi Jews are a recognized genetically distinct group. That’s all I’ve been saying.
