Old money kind of exists on a different plane. They will say hilarious things to you without realizing it, like "Of course I stayed home until the children finished school" and five minutes later mention the children went to Choate and Exeter. Or name drop famous/rich people but only by their first name because they assume everyone knows who they are talking about. Or non-ironically refer to their house by its name instead of its address, and again just assume you are familiar with all of the real estate parcels in Nantucket or Mount Desert or Cos Cob.

Lots of dogs and big ones at that. furniture with dog hair on it is a tell. I used to work for a "&($#*" family from NY that had the ultimate late 90's status symbol in canine -the Bernese Mountain Dog. You could see the disdain for the dog because they weren't dog people.
