When my child applied in 3rd grade only his 3rd grade scores were there (they were better than his second grade scores). I think that improved his chances.
Also, read the comments in the GBRS. I think they are very telling. I've seen a few packets (from my kids and friends) and you can often tell the difference between a kid with lots of detailed interesting comments and just run of the mill basic comments. They are not allowed to write negative things, so you have to read between the lines. I knew my DC had a very good chance when he had a page and a half of very specific detailed comments, including "Little Johnny often engages adults in conversation because he lacks an intellectual peer in his class." There are some comments, like that one, that very clearly indicate the teachers think the child needs AAP, verses the more general comments that can be found.
Did you have your third grader retake through FCPS? I suspect DC's old second grade scores were still there because those were the from the test assessed by FCPS while the new scores were from GMU.

Did your child take it at school this year or GMU? I would use it to appeal. Assuming the 142 is this year's CogAT. What was last year's score--the one listed?
I am the PP who mentioned the 3rd grade Cogat/NNAT scores being handwritten into the cover sheet. I had to include the GMU scores in my parent referral packet -- provided the full score sheet GMU sent me -- and then the school incorporated that into the full file (and put the scores on the summary). If it's through the school, I thought those scores were provided to the committee automatically. In fact, we had decided to have DC retested at GMU precisely so we could decide whether to submit the scores.

Getting file today to see GBRS. I know scores are a little low but I expected high GBRS and he is in top reading and math and bored in school currently so I thought a holistic review might get him in. He is among the youngest of second graders but I don’t think they consider that.
May or may not do WISC to appeal. I think he’d be much happier in AAP but not sure our center (Bull Run) is necessarily the end-all be-all.

School had some strong work samples in addition to what I had submitted. AART thought we have nothing to lose and suggested appealing given his strong all-around file. I think we will appeal, as it’s true we have nothing to lose.

I'm not the PP, but that is consistent with what we experienced with my third grader -- scores for both years are included. The packet submitted by the school has a cover sheet that shows the second grade test scores at the top and then the scores (retakes) from GMU were in some "other" category, handwritten in. So at first glance on the cover sheet, it looks like the same scores as last year. I wasn't thrilled about this, but what can you do? The supporting info for the GMU scores was included with the file.
