He really has done a great job as governor.

And there is no doubt he has Marylanders best interests in mind and heart as he works passionately at his job.

Hogan refused to take a stand against Trump's Muslim ban and cabinet nominees. He even deleted posts off his facebook page that criticized him for not taking a stand. I'm not a Trump supporter and he's not my kind of guy.

Bethesda Magazine reporter on a recent poll showing something like 60/20 favorable/unfavorable numbers. Given the fairly uninspiring Democratic options, he looks like he will be hard to beat.

Kevin Kaminetz is a solid option from Baltimore County -- he's a moderate democrat. Baltimore County is (and has been) very well run financially -- I don't think the property tax rate has been increased in the past decade and we have had a ton of school construction. Hogan perceives him as a threat as well -- that's why he drummed up the a/c in schools fight with him. All our services are well run.

He's running second in the polls to Baker but most voters are still undecided.

I don't see the state of Maryland being run better than PG County. Crime is increasing. MD's position in educational rankings is dropping. And I don't agree with Hogan's prioritization of spending for rural roads over mass transit.


Those rural people are his bread and butter so what did you expect?

I’d like to see mass transit from Clarksburg or even Frederick down to Shady Grove to hook up with the red line. Instead he’s talking about widening the beltway into our backyards.

I do kind him overall. All the dems do is raise taxes endlessly and hand it over to developers and their bread and butter - illegal immigrants.

+1 Hogan is all of the downside of having a Republican governor and none of the upsides.

Which issues has he spoken against Trump on? I can only think of one -- offshore drilling. And he went and campaigned for Gillespie, at the end of the campaign, when Gillespie went all-out Trump.

+1 Trump is a disaster and he endorses Hogan. And Hogan is endorsed by the NRA. Those two endorsements are enough for me to vote for the Democrat, whomever he may be.


I'm a Dem. I'm not a fan of Hogan, but it absolutely matters to me who the Dem candidate is. What is wrong with this country, with our elections, is the attitude on both sides that "it doesn't matter who the candidate is, I'll vote for X party." That is what has enabled us to get crappy candidates on both sides, over and over and over again, because the parties throw their money behind inept people, knowing all of the lemmings will vote for the candidate who has the right letter by their name.

I'm not impressed with any of the Dem candidates I see on the horizon, so I'll vote for the status quo over risking a Dem governor who is going to see their election as a mandate to raise taxes.

I live in PG County, and Rushern Baker has been horrible. He raised property taxes in a county that already has high property taxes, and the schools still have not improved. He hasn't done anything except downplay some scandals/signs of corruption. There's no way I'd vote for him.


To be fair, in PG county, the county executive is not supposed to have power over the schools. Baker tried to wrestle control from the elected board and that went about as well as you would expect. The county also faced a huge financial shortfall after the recession, which was not Baker’s fault either. He has presided over a big decrease in crime and an improved business climate, so that’s not terrible.

Democrat here who will vote for Hogan unless there is a really compelling Democrat in the race. like Hogan, he has been reasonable on most issues, he's hardly a Trumpkin. I don't like the imposition of the school schedule constraints but I blame MoCo more than the governor. I like that he didn't kill the Purple Line. I like that there's some bipartisan balance in the state government, and I haven't seen a Democratic candidate who seems like a better bet.
