If her personal problems had been making her miserable and she saw no way of overcoming them, she may have been thinking for a long time about just getting up and walking out of her life. She had just had a court date (and possibly a big argument with her husband), she was floundering professionally, not sure what her finances were like. And it sounds like she may have had a substance abuse problem.
Sneha maybe had some issues, but Sneha was also smart. Maybe she had been devising a plan to disappear and 9/11 just happened to present her with an easy opportunity to do just that.
I agree. She was already planning to do what she was going to do. 9/11 gave her an out.
Also, she was definitely with someone at the store who knew her. Her picture and story was plastered all over the place in the wake of 9/11. This person would have come forward. If this person--an Indian woman about the same age had died in 9/11 then it would be fairly easy to narrow down. Neither happened. These women left together that day and 9/11 was a coincidence.

Anonymous wrote:Its odd that the husband says there was no loud argument after court on 9/10, when witnesses claim to have overheard one. Also odd that she did not have a cell phone or pager.

Sneha had argued with her husband at the courthouse that morning (her husband denies that)
Sneha's brother had walked in on Sneha and his former girlfriend having sex (her brother denies ever telling police that).
Sneha had been charged with making a false accusation to police (she accused a man of groping her) and had been in court the morning of her disappearance.
Sneha was known to frequent gay bars and to stay out all night at her friends' places w/o letting her husband know where she was.
Sneha did not come home on 9/10 after her shopping trip at a store to buy lingerie and bedding. And those shopping bags have never been recovered.
Some questions:
What were Sneha's finances like? Did she have large student loan payments? If she had been convicted of giving a false statement to police would would her punishment have been and what would the consequences have been to her professional career?
As far as what happened to Sneha. I am leaning towards her taking the opportunity to disappear and go somewhere to start her life over again.
I agree with this also. The previous poster says they knew her - why do you think she bought all that stuff, including three pairs of shoes which someone would presumably not buy for a friend, if she were planning on killing herself?
The husband is super sketchy including the fact that he agreed to the story but would not share what the private investigator found. Then again they obviously had a really odd relationship considering that she often didn't come home overnight and it didn't seem to bother him. It's possible the investigator found she was doing some more sexual stuff and the husband did not want it made public because he knew it would make it less credible and/or cared about that she died in the WTC.
This is an interesting story.
The Sneha described in the NYMag article bears absolutely no resemblance to the Sneha I knew. So, either she became a very different person or the article isn’t very accurate. No disputing she had gotten kicked out of her program though. To me, that is the biggest mystery— how and why did she go from the confident very together girl that always had something interesting to say to the woman who seemingly had a failing marriage and was lost in her career..
I’d like to think she walked into a whole new life, but it is hard to imagine her giving up all contact with her family.

I hope not. She wasn't a victim or a hero of 9/11 and to keep perpetuating the theory is disrespectful for those who were.

Doesn't the video show that there is no chance that she was in the apartment that night? So while it is strange, what am I missing? How does it suggest he is at fault?
I wonder if there was more than one entrance into the building. Maybe Sneha could have entered and exited via another door in the building that didn't have a working camera.
But what would've been the point? She went into her own apartment knowing her husband was sleeping there, called his cell phone from the home phone, then left? Why?
Just throwing out the possibility that Sneha could have been in/out of the apartment that evening on 9/10 and even on 9/11 if she used a door to the building that didn't have a surveillance camera. Just because she wasn't seen coming in and out of the lobby area, doesn't necessarily mean that she didn't use another entrance/exit.
Anonymous wrote:I really want to know what kind of shoes she bought. Were they sexy heels or practical work shoes? Were all 3 pairs in her size? I can't imagine walking around with a bag full of three pairs of shoes for very long. If I was not far from home I would drop them off even if I was headed back out. What happened to the bags is a big part of the story. I think its possible she was having an affair. If the OP was married I could see them not coming forward to say they were together that night.
