Vignarajah's plans are amazing and ambitious, and totally plausible if we can get just a few more Dems in the statehouse. We need big thinking, and big plans. Big dreams, too. Even if she doesn't accomplish all of it, at least she stands a good chance of getting a tax hike on high income earners passed. That would be a huge boost to the state by itself. The revenue from that could fund so many other neededthings.

I'm a Democrat who voted for Hogan last time. Will see who the Democrats come up with this time. Anthony Brown was not going to get my vote.

I haven't noticed him staying distant from Donald Trump. I've mostly noticed him closing his eyes, plugging his ears, and saying "la la la" whenever anybody asks him about anything Trump-related.

I am waiting for him to make a significant departure from Trump on matters of governance. I voted for him last time and regret that decision. I just hope the Democrats nominate somebody better than Anthony Brown or I'll have to go third-party.

Maryland being Maryland, Hogan's reelection was never going to be a sure thing regardless of his popularity. And he is pretty popular and well regarded.

All the specific issues mentioned shouldn't be enough to cause him to lose. They are primarily issues for people who would never vote for Hogan anyway. The real issue he faces is being a Republican in a staunchly Democractic state that has so many hardcore Democrats who would never vote for a Republican. And on top of it is a midterm election year with a very unpopular president and Republican congress. That could be enough to swing sufficient people to cast their vote for any Democratic candidate regardless of the issues or Hogan himself. Ehrlich suffered from a similar anti Republican mid year election that saw him lose despite winning the endorsement of the Post, although Ehrlich hurt himself in other areas but he really lost because of the wave.

As it stands, I see Hogan winning the Baltimore suburbs and the rest of the non DC counties. The question will come down to how much support he can retain in the DC suburbs if there is a strong anti Republican wave. If the DC suburbs really stack up against Hogan, that will probably tip the results for the Democratic candidate. Baltimore City is irrelevant as he's never gained nor loss any ground in that very Democratic bastion.
