My ILs say that expensive things are "dear." Such an antiquated, pretentious turn of phrase.

My MIL says "BM" or "movement" for poop.

Agree this is a Jewish thing -- specifically either a NY Jewish thing or said by those who grew up speaking Yiddish. My NY inlaws say it, as do my grandparents who spoke Yiddish as kids. Never heard anyone Jewish outside of those two groups use it.
