1) Develop some incentive to encourage the accumulation of leave. Teachers hired over the last 12 years or so forfeit all unused leave when they exit FCPS. More veteran teachers do get service credit when they retire, which is at least something.

2) Up pay for retired teacher subs.

We don't get 2 weeks off for break. Our last day is 12/22. Our principal will never approve leave on any Friday.

So teachers work next week but students are off? You get 5 professional days in December? The online calendar says winter break 12/18-1/1.


The PP is obviously working in another district that has school next week.

Mine will approve as long as we have a substitute lined up.

You taught in the wrong district. Long Island taxpayers pay 100% of retired teachers' health care for their lifetime on top of a $100,000+ pension after 30 years.



People think that's what we get. Mine is $1,239 each month for two people. It would be $619 for an individual.

Also, to sub in Washington state, you need your teaching license.

I was a first grade teacher and left teaching when my dc was born 15 years ago. No way would I go back to full time teaching.
