A couple of years into our marriage, and I wouldn't have wanted my DH purchasing a car for me without my consent. Simply because of tight finances, the needs of our children, rising costs of gas, etc.

We've been married for almost two decades now, and I would trust him to buy a car for me. We're both old with bad backs, so if he finds the car uncomfortable or impractical, so would I.

there are a lot of jealous, type-A women here who wish their husbands were half as nice as OP. This poor guy asked a simple question and he has gotten nothing short of a lashing and roasting spread out over 11 pages. I am guessing he is long gone. Figured it out by the end of page 2 that he was not going to get any help here!

How is it a "lashing" and "roasting" to suggest he include his wife in such a large, personal purchase? We're trying to help him avoid making a mistake.

One the car leaves the lot it cannot legally be sold as a new car to anyone else. They will not let you bring it back.

We've done it. But it's a little less annoying if you think there might be buyers remorse for something like this, they'll let you just take it home for the weekend before purchase agreement.

as a huge car buff, hondas and toyotas have gotten so good that i can't justify spending more for a run-of-the-mill 'luxury car'.

s-classes do have some interesting technology that is useful but other than that give me a honda/toyota or ferrari/lambo/mclaren.

everything inbetween doesn't really seem worth it.
