Don't worry, they'll plead "cuts" again next year and the cycle will repeat.

Yes, the number of students increases every year, the number of students needing special services increases, and mandated benefits for teachers has been increased. So the budgetary needs increase.

Nope. Not close.

Number of students this year is flat. 0 increase.

There is absolutely no evidence the number of special needs students are increasing.

"mandated benefits?", well, write your legislator and ask to hold benefits flat. The benefits are great now, no need to increase.

Even so, we had a very large increase this year, and mark my words, they will be back for more. You can't feed a bureaucrat enough money.

I don't think that the benefits themselves are increasing. It's that the state is requiring local school boards to contribute a larger %.

Please, someone, explain where the money is coming from.

See slide 7 and 8 of the one on one presentation:

Thanks. So, the money is coming from funds. No additional expense, it says. Wow. And, they cry poor.

I keep hoping our schools don't issue laptops. Yuck.

I'm not upset about the cost. Laptops can be very cheap. It would cost more to issue school books to every student in the Chantilly pyramid.

Haha so true. There is no shortage of hypocrisy.

A new tax a year....with a pipeline of more. Sigh.....

Time to just say stop.

That's how it was in Maryland under o'malley. I couldn't believe that after I left Maryland they finally got a republican governor. After years of feeling like my vote was thrown away.

Don't live in Maryland, but it was interesting that the new Republican governor lowered many fees and tolls, and the Democrats were upset about that.

I guess Democrats are that addicted to spending other peoples money.

Yes. And some of us got tired of it and left. Apparently others got tired of it and stayed and voted differently!

Don't believe me? Ok. It's not about the "teeny bit" of extra cost. It's about f.u. to the tax & spend democrats. And we don't eat much chicken or potatoes either. We eat mostly vegetarian.
Don't you just love how the democrats leave their jurisdictions with excessively high taxes and go to great places that they proceed to screw up just like the places that they left? Some people will never learn.

And this pp wants republicans/conservatives to leave NOVA:

I don't even understand why conservatives or Republicans live in Fairfax County. You have a whole state who wants you. Leave our blue part alone or just know yes, you will be taxed to fund YOUR child's education and deal with it.
Your part was our part before your left liberal hell holes to come pollute our well.

+1,000. I have lived in FFX County for 35 years and was just going to post a similar comment.

Ok, Grandma. Keep polishing your gun in your rocking chair.
