How is mentioning where a child's parents are from "intolerably offensive" and "horrible for children to hear?"
My parents are both minorities--one is from an island where people tend to be darker skinned, and one is from a country in S. America where people span the range of complexions. I see no problem with someone pointing this out.
PP basically said that Murch, in contrast with Janney, has some brown-skinned kids from various countries in her kids' class, and that she's happy her kids not the only brown-skinned kid there.
I don't understand why these seems so offensive and maddening to you? So far you really haven't clarified.
Janney has many brown or black skinned kids. Lots of IMF and World Bank families go there too, hence the international crowd. Many mixed race kids as well.
My kids are not the only non white kids in their class.

This is what most of our friends do. We are at a public and I don't think that they get anymore "diversity" for the $30K+ price tag. We thought about private but did not want our kids to spend too much time in the ivory tower of wealth. At least in public school they get a bit more socio-economic diversity and will get even more when they go to middle school.
