We accepted yesterday too!
We could not be more thrilled with our choice. Like you, we had options.
We just thought the well rounded balance at the school was such a positive (and, of course, all that outdoor space for learning).

Have taught at well-regarded boarding and day. Boarding schools idyllic, but the education and student bodies are as good at the top day schools in Boston, DC, NY, LA, to name a few cities with very good independent schools. Even the top boarding schools stretch a bit in admissions for full paying, legacy, athletes, etc. And DC's best schools very comparable with NYC and Boston.

Yes, but those schools aren't available to those of us who actually want to live with our kids, and whose kids want to live with their parents.

YEAH! Congrats on following your gut and do what YOU think its best for your DC and family, and filtering out all the noise.
We did exactly the same today (Potomac deadline for deposit was today at noon, for those that may be asking). It wasn't an easy decision but the correct decision for us.
It's nice to know there will be other level headed families joining us at Potomac. DC is entering 9th grade.
