If so, does your family go to the club much? I'd be especially interested in knowing whether families with kids I'm middle and high school use the club. Is it mostly a summer thing, or do any kids at Sidwell play on their hockey team or play winter tennis?
We don't know if our kids will go to Sidwell, but it's our first choice by far and we're hesitant to move forward with joining Chevy if there really isn't anyone from Sidwell there. The bays we know from STA who go to Chevy seem to have a nice group of friends there. I'd hate to invest the time and money only to realize two years later that nobody from our kids' school goes there.
I know, very first world problem.
Thanks for your responses, even the funny snarky ones I'm guessing are on their way!

Does anyone really believe this is from whose kids are supposedly at Beauvoir and are years from applying out, and who strongly prefers Sidwell but won't join a particular country club if there aren't many Sidwell families there? OP is yanking the collective DCUM chain, hitting all the hot-button topics (Sidwell, Beauvoir, privilege, money, status, race, religion).
I think you called it!
Sure, but please don't chase OP away or shut down the thread -- it's too funny! OP or OP's avatar, can you continue to post on your life in great detail -- where do you shop how do you hire and manage household employees? what's your spring break destination? Tell us more!
Anonymous wrote:Fear not, fellow Chevy members. This entire thread is getting printed and sent to the Board. Let's hope they can figure out who this ninny is. OP is exactly the kind of person we DON'T want at Chevy.

A history regarding racism at The Chevy Chase Club written by a member.
According to this article, the CCC is still essentially all white, or close to it.[/quote
Ok, I have finally hit my limit. We are an AA family and belong to CCC. In addition, DH's family belongs to an equally "exclusive club" which I will not name for fear of outing myself. We belong to CCC for the same reasons any other family joins any sort of club-for golf, tennis, swim team and ice hockey for the kids, etc.....
I have read Mr. Sisson's article and it is as outdated now as it was 6 years ago. Mr. Sisson is tilting at windmills.
We live in a meritocracy people! Many clubs are expensive. That alone has a self-selecting impact. Work hard and enjoy the fruits of those labors. Not everything is racism.
(and I have never referred to it as Chevy)
Super refreshing.
but it gets very little reaction because it does not play into the negative narrative on this thread and on DCUM in general.
