Listening to the CIP Public hearing now. It was nice to hear Karen Garza state the CIP would be updated to specify the regulations and processes that must be followed for any boundary changes or changes in AAP centers.

The speakers so far have strong statements, too.

My understanding is the School Board might vote to include them in the CIP, to give folks a heads-up, but most would have to be seprately proposed and approved, typically years from now, before they ever were implemented. Many likely will never get adopted.

Sorry, I was not trying to split hairs. It's simply that some of the potential changes that Facilities has identified would be fairly controversial. I was curious, so I listened to the November 10th work session and had some follow-up discussions with a School Board member and facilities staff, and they were clear that what FCPS is trying to do here is identify capital needs and challenges in the coming years, and identify what Facilities sees as potential solutions so that people aren't taken by surprise if the School Board decides to move forward with some of the options later. But, for example, some of the solutions would only be needed if the current projections for enrollment four or five years from now turn out to be accurate, which is a big "if.
