A minority in this thread (like me) aren't saying the action of the OP is a big deal - the concealment is.

your comment would only be valid if "ted" or another guy in this situation posted saying 'i ran a train or whatever' and i don't want to tell my gf.

i'm not for telling everything to someone you are casually dating but if you are thinking about having a very long term relationship, then why not.

concealment doesn't help IMO.

I think that many people have done some out of character eyebrow raising things once or twice, usually when they were young and in the moment (probably, but not always, intoxicated). That sort of thing happens and it is what it is.

Doesn't mean that the person is always kinky wild and would do it again. Usually once was plenty and really that should be the end of it.

Op shouldn't deny that she used to have casual hookups - she does not owe details to Ted or anyone else.

I'm a guy, and honestly, I'd prefer to know. I'd be very happy to have a woman who understands the desire to do something wild and uninhibited from time to time. I'd love to have a partner who was into having an open relationship - physically, not emotionally.

the problem is when one person hides their past - leads the current S/O to believe that they are something they are not. If you take ownership of your behavior (i.e. if OP did in this case and was truthful), the reaction would be different.

Yep. I suppose that some women might rationalize it all be saying "My poor widdle man would never have done that if it wasn't for that sleazy woman!" There is a definite disconnect, a lack of ownership, denial..that their widdle man was an active, eager participant in the whole thing. What people are saying is that it takes two (or 3 or 4) to tango. None of the parties involved should be proud of their behavior - it is nothing to brag about. And if they are proud of it, see nothing wrong with it then...they are consenting adults who are doing what they *want* to do. They are kinky, but they have a right to be kinky. They just don't have the right to publicly berate their kinky partners - that's abusive.

This is way less about "being liberated" and more about common decency, IMO.

I don't think they do. I really don't think the women's movement plays in at all. Some women just think this is how to be sexy, and/or they crave being perceived as sexy. Like girls who do Girls Gone Wild on spring break - they equate exhibitionism and promiscuity with sexiness. We women who think differently don't get it or like it, but a lot of men do.
