Her condition has been described as "non-life threatening," but at the press conference today, police said they were not able to speak to her because of her condition. But they added that they did not know her condition today, which strikes me as bizarre.

Article on the Patch says they are waiting to interview her again until she is medically stable. She has an arm wound. Hopefully they will get a sketch then.

No one knew to look for a murderer at the time he walked away. He looked like half of Alexandria--middle aged white guy.

We need to come together as a community to support the family of Ms. Lodato, the APD, and each other in this frightening time.

The number one priority should be to mitigate the safety threat. I feel for the victim's family, but making sure the perpetrator is caught is really the most important thing at this time.

I absolutely agree. That's where the APD part of my statement comes in -- there's nothing we in the community can do to mitigate the safety threat except take personal safety precautions, watch out for our neighbors, and report any information we have that could be helpful to the APD.

Agreed. My handgun sits in the house gathering dust, I think I will conceal carry it for awhile now, that's my contribution to my neighborhood, that and being extra vigilant is all I guess I can do.

Ugh. Please don't.

We don't need more people with a heightened sense of false heroism.

No worries. He'll protect you too!!

So I guess you have to shoot everyone who knocks on your door, just to be safe. Sounds like a plan.
