honestly, they should have pulled the show back in the summer. It angers me that HGTV kept on going on with the ruse.

I watched it. I thought it was pretty bad. It was flat. The hosts had no on air personality. That may just be because it was the pilot, but it didn't encourage me to tune in again.

I'm 11 pages too late to reply promptly to this one but YES!!!!! Hgtv should just license this to show here. People would love it. Not everyone could appreciate it (e.g. The barn renovations into homes) but many people would.

The lack of design shows is disappointing.

Busting countertop with gusto as a contest with your TV spokesperson. Tearing out a beautiful fireplace marble surround because the host said it was so 90s! Throwing yourself through a wall, like a real country yahoo, because destruction is a sport for hosts trying to capture the elusive "open concept". I predict in ten years, everyone will be putting up walls because open concept is so "teens". And let's face it, it doesn't

While some locales are exotic, the people are usually on a budget and instead of getting the glamorous side of exotic locales, you're looking at the dirty, cheap side of exotic locales. Cheap, dirty little 2 BR apartments that are way too expensive is not the way I want to "see the world".

Oh, how I hate HHI. It's often some family looking for a weekend place in St. Croix, for $2M. I'd rather feel superior to the Dallas first-time buyers complaining they don't like the kitchen in the $100K McMansion because the appliances aren't stainless.

^^pp above...I just realized how old this thread is. But I guess annoyance with HGTV is timeless as the programming hasn't changed since I last noticed.

But to the PPs who cited the UK's "Grand Designs" in the first few pages of this thread--you are TOTALLY right. It's an inspiring show that really raises the bar for architecture and design. Kevin McLeod who conceived/hosts the show is visionary.

So while we're at it , BBC America is totally lame for showing endless Top Gear stuff and not bringing Grand DEsigns and the like to the US. Also, you'd all love the UK's Hotel Inspector (where a savvy and likeable hotel expert goes to turnaround a fledgling independent hotel/b&B) and Country House Rescue (same idea, but getting a stately home out of financial peril). But I digress.
