Quigley's on New Mexico and Maggie's in Tenleytown (yes I went to AU)
Ha! Quigley's is a stretch as a restaurant. I thought one of the reasons they closed is that they sold too much beer in the food to beer ratio. Something about licensing bars vs. restaurants.

Does anyone know what happened there? It was only open for a REALLY short time, it seemed.

i forgot about Ha Penny Lion -- was it a restaurant or a bar? where was it?
17th & L. Definitely a bar. Total meat market. First bar I went to in DC back in 94. I worked a block away.
Dates me but I went there in the mid 80's. So I guess it had a pretty good run.
From that era there was also Gusti's on 19th and M. And of course the Fish Market in Georgetown - but not sure I would call that a loss of a restaurant since I am sure I never ate anything there.
