What about with lululemon girl...Brittany? Mental disorder at play?

Is that even possible? Outside of PPD, can an adult go from sane to insane?

Well....he's white, so mental illness would have to explain it. "Regular" white people don't do stuff like this.![]()

+100. Happened to my brother in his early 20s - up until then, perfectly normal. Graduated early from college with excellent grades, scored 99th percentile on LSAT . . . then, BOOM. Totally out of the blue. Fortunately he was never violent.
I'm in total agreement as well. For those who've known/seen the face of mental illness, it's chilling and so very sad.

For me it has nothing to do with him being white. It is the fact he was medical student working on a PhD - no indication of any past history of violence and claims from family/friends that he had been acting strangely.
If a back man had been in the same scenario and done the same thing I would feel the same way.
Completely different from someone black or white who is in a gang, has a long criminal past, has never been gainfully employed and has a traumatic violent past that has left him angry and aggressive.
People with mental illness are no more likely to be violent or aggressive to strangers than anyone else. however often when they commit violent acts it makes the news because of the unpredictability and incongruency of the act with the person.

It is a manifestation of a mental illness in some cases, but the dominant culture does not seem to recognize it or care to delve into it, so yes. Your mock incredulity is just boring not as ironic as you intended.
What "dominant culture" are you speaking of? No incredulity. I was interested in the consensus. In the threads questionioning why blacks are so effed up, I've never heard anyone mention mental illness as a likely culprit.
Uh, white culture. In America white cultural frame of reference is dominant. Not saying that is good or bad but that it just is. White culture excuses such an act as mental illness when committed by a white person. I'm saying black culture presents mental illness very differently at times anyway, and that it is not acknowledged and treated as such.

You're kidding, I hope.
