I don't have much but it grows fast. I do a touch up of individual strands every 4 weeks

[font=big]I have salt and pepper hair and take it to a medium/light ash blonde by:

1. getting highlights monthly or or every 6 weeks

2. in between, doing Loreal Paris Super Blonde 200 box dye just on roots and adding Olaplex I buy separately, and I use Loreal dark ash blonde dye for a few minutes as the toner after

3. Topix (hair fiber powder in my part in light brown or medium blonde) when I need it in a pinch for daily use with hair down.

I tried using bottles from Sally's where you mix the developer and do it supposedly healthier, but if you are going to take hair up so many levels from dark to light, you are probably using a 40 developer equivalent which is what I presume box dyes are anyway. It took me a few years to find all these products and educate myself and figure out I was happy being blonde and not my lovely brunette self.

I hope this helps. The greys look platinum blonde when they come in and all the different colors and tones are fun for the eye and distracting for the viewer.

iv been going grey since i was 21, used to get away with not dyeing it alot but now my roots are on full beam after 4days!! this sucks!! i have black hair and i really dont want to lose it. my mums 52 and shes got hardly any grey, also my grandparents are over 70 with hardly any grey also my sister is older than me with dark hair no greying at all ?. its so hard to dye yourself aswell, i get in a right mess and i dont even no how people can get all the roots doing it yourself. think im going to have to see if my hairdresser will do a weekly special for me ??. im now 29, 30 in a couple of months. i feel im greying a lt a speedy rate.

Dark brown hair which began graying in early 20s, now 55.. Get color done every three weeks or silver roots become very noticeable and make me look like I'm balding. Stylist has a lot of experience with color and experimented with permanent and semi-permanent Schwarzkopf color until finding the right combination that is true to my original color. She will apply to roots for most appts and do full head as needed. I get a lot of compliments on how soft, shiny and natural my hair looks.

There are some great root cover sprays out there now. Lifesaver for when I haven't been able to get my roots done.

40. I definitely have some grays, but partial highlights every 4 months or so is sufficient. You can't see the gray hair unless I wear a ponytail, which I only do to the gym.

60 -every three weeks, unless you don't mind people observing the grey after the 3rd week, because they can. And if not why color at all?

I only have a few grays so far but I would like to not dye them. If my husband complained I would tell him to find a new wife.

Same here! I still have to do the highlights about every 8 weeks, but I keep it close to my natural color (highlights and low lights), so it doesn't stand out as much.

I am dark brunette, 25% grey. Used to color roots every 4-6 weeks. I got highlights and I haven't colored for over 2 months. Grey and highlights transition is noticeable, but it is a lot easier on an eye then dark with grey roots. I will probably do all over color at home within next couple weeks, and then go back for highlights. Or maybe I will just go grey. I haven't decided yet.

I'm 44. I used to be a redhead but if I went natural now, I'd be at least 65% gray. It started happening around 38 and I swear every year it gets worse. At 40, it was every 7-8 weeks. Now it's every 6, at the least. In the last year, the grays have also started to "resist" the color, so I'm sitting in the chair way longer in order to get the same effect. I dye my hair red because I really just wanted to keep looking like myself. But I know that red hair dye fades pretty quickly (especially in the summer) and it would be easier if I decided to use brown instead. Depending on how often I've washed it or how much I've been in the sun, sometimes I have to go every 5 weeks. But anyway, even going ever 5-6 weeks, I have gray roots. I have turned to a powder root coverup and I swear by it and I've recommended it to other friends and all of them like it. It's made by a company called "Color Wow." I first bought it from my hair salon but it's cheaper on Amazon. Maybe there are other powders/sprays that others can/have recommended. I've never tried anything else. I admit that I thought this was a complete waste of money when I bought it, but it really, really, really helps. It takes just a few seconds to apply and it stays on really well through brushing etc. Obviously, it washes out so you have to reapply. It's amazing how the basic colors are able to blend in enough to match lots of different shades. I guess it's just a trick of the eye, but I used to feel so bad about the gray roots and this stuff hides it well enough that honestly I don't think anyone but me notices them. After I ran out of my first purchase (which took FOREVER), I didn't immediately replace and an employee who didn't know I colored my hair made a remark to me about the gray roots. As in "oh, I'm so glad to see you have some gray hair too. You're older than me and I have more grays than you! Have you ever thought about dying your hair when they get bad enough?" It was hysterical. I'm like, "Girl. I've been doing that for 8 years!" I swear by the stuff. It's easy, it looks good enough, and it gets you through to your next coloring. I can't live without it now.

I'm 38 and started getting grays 10 years ago.

Can you provide a link? THe only root touch up I know of is Clairol.

The color fades pretty quickly too, I do not think its worth more than the average l'oreal/clairol etc touch up dye you can get at the drugstore. I will probably cancel my subscription this week.
