Wow, he really doesn't care. The only parents he seemed to be pleasant to were on the Board. The rest of us mere mortals were lucky to get a hi. I wonder if he can even link my child to us? Unfortunately, WES does not have the sense of community that we want in a school so we will be attending open houses next year and apply out.

I was at the same picnic and all I heard abut was how great the school is from parents. I also have only good things to say about the Head of the School Mr. Duncan. We see him at the car pool more often than not greeting everybody. He greets my DS who is in LS with his first name. He is doing great things for the school. We really love the school and appreciate the Head of the School.

My enrollment info came directly from a teacher at FD last evening.

The school is under enrolled for 2013-14. WES is still taking applications for all grades. Check it out with the school.

The above quote seems confusing- there are 20 in the current 8th grade (with fantastic hs placement btw). There is no "transfer option"- they are graduating. Per the numbers posted, there are 28 students who will be 8th graders next year (2013-2014).

It was also recently announced in our newsletter that the school is seriously considering the possibility of a 3rd 5th grade teacher bc of high enrollment in that grade. While there may be a few outlier enrollment numbers, it seems to me from the posted numbers that overall things are looking healthy.

I usually try not to get into nitty gritty things like this, but my family is so happy at WES (and has been for years- yes, including 3rd grade), I just felt compelled to post.

Yes and it makes absolute sense that the same students who have no transfer option end up at excellent schools upon graduation and do very well in those schools.

Surely these posts belong to WES in an alternate universe....

You must live in a bubble and not be talking to parents in 6th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, or K. Many, many parents in those grades are very unhappy. Class size is getting smaller. 1st grade will have only 20 students, K does not have enough for 2 sections....

I beg to differ: you must be the one living in a bubble full of bad karma. I urge anybody interested in WES to ask the admissions office for correct numbers. Class size is not getting smaller. By the way, one good indicator is the percentage of WES parents that contributed to the annual giving campaign each year: it is about 100 percent this year.

As a WES parent, I am simply appalled by such negative posts on such a great school. I am sorry that you have these feelings for WES.

Visit the school and meet the parents, you will be surprised...

Rather than telling people to visit the Admissions Office, why don’t you give us the correct numbers so that we can all live in a factual bubble? I confirmed today that next year’s Nursery does indeed have only five families enrolled. I will get you started so that all you have to do is fill in the blanks:
2012/2013 2013/2014
Nursery 14 5
Transition 12
Kindergarten 24
1 23
2 24
3 35
4 33
5 28
6 28
7 28
8 20

There are only 20 kids in the whole 8th grade? That seems very small.

Above data is meaningless before June 1st. You cannot draw line from a single observation.I am not an admissions specialist but Nursery is not a standard in-take year,it is generally considered for siblings.

Looking at the table above I will say that transition next year will be 14 or more given that there will be new admits at the transition year. Should I conclude that compared to 2012/13 the class sizes are getting big and there is overcrowding at WES?
