Also, in the part about the 50th anniversary party for Skip and Polly, it says there will be 50 couples at the party (and Eddie makes the point that he must bring a plus 1 or he will screw that up and Polly will be angry), but then the party is described as having 5 tables of 10 people each. So that’s 50 people, not 50 couples right? Did I miss something or misread? Returned the book to the library so can’t double check that…

It’s a very good book, I don’t mean to nitpick but I did notice that and was confused.

Finished the Midnight Train; it’s ok, but a bit too “it’s a wonderful life” for my taste (I do generally like Matt Haig as a writer, he usually has great insights into human nature).

I started Whistler and am enjoying it, but then our book club selected the Calamity Club—it’s a longer book (set in 1933 Mississippi, with intertwining stories of several women), so I started it right away. And now I cannot put it down! Excellent writing, the characters are well crafted and vivid, the pacing is good so far, and Stockett has a great ear for dialogue. I wasn’t expecting to be so into it.

When We Were Bright and Beautiful by Jillian Medoff. It's dark but I want to see where it goes.
