Most grown sons would share this with their buddies and aren’t as open about their love life with their mother. Mothers/daughters type of conversation or father/son but mother/som ehh it’s giving mommy boy vibes. Like when he is in a relationship/marriage he will tell his mom about his relationship issues causing more strain in his relationship. Ask me how I know.

College educated young adults don't break up just because of distance. They can get a job anywhere, work remotely, take turns flying to see each other, hybrid work schedule leave 3-5 day weekends, reroute work flights, FaceTime. Whatever, they can make it work.

I posted this because I am old and out of touch, so I'm crowd sourcing on here. I don't know if this is common or strange with kids this age. My gut reaction was this is rude to her fiancé, but again, I'm old.

I'm old, too, OP, and to me her text is weird. Why would she send only a picture to someone she hasn't talked to in two years who is an ex-boyfriend. Her text is inappropriate and cringy. Any of the PPs acting like this is even in the realm of appropriate are equally weird. The PPs who are surprised an adult son would ever talk to his mom make me sad.

Hopefully your son ignored or just texted back "Congrats" and left it at that. No need to get hooked into whatever BS drama this weirdo is looking for.

Typical zoomer girl boss juvenile. Just jumping through hoops and chasing status. Wants the ring and "adult" milestone of being married, ambivalent of the dork who gave her the ring. Wants to keep her options open. Still seeks out the attention of other men, still keeps tabs on her exes. Will keep her (dad's) last name, not take her husbands. Wishy-washy atheist, so 50/50 she divorces the schmuck within five years or quiet quits the starter marriage without a second thought.

Striver women at this age go nuts as they see all their girlfriends getting engaged and married and buying houses. She probably felt your son wasted years of her prime, broke her heart, and jeopardized her finding some high status man to wife her up. Sure it’s immature to send this but it was also immature to waste however many years of her life and then move 3,000 miles away from her.
