They are the top schools because the rest of the country has already collapsed. There are very bright children whose parents are happy to send them to tutoring. The schools themselves are really not very good. They stick your kid in front of a computer or ipad all day. No textbooks - even for math - no paperback books for children to read. The teachers buy all the books and supplies for themselves - and have supplies donated by parents.

Much of the money goes to EdTech, like Google and Sharepoint. Others, like YouTube, comes with ads. It's literally everything I would NOT want in a school system.

It’s yet another FCPS expenditure for which the justification is clear as mud.

If there are actual physical threats against Reid, those responsible should be arrested. Otherwise this is more performative BS from Reid and the School Board. They want to pretend they are doing tough “work” and making “courageous” decisions that require protection from those they are paid to serve.

For the most part, everyone I know just thinks Reid is really, incompetent, and wishes FCPS was better run. But that’s an opinion, and not one that requires a security detail.
