I bought the biggest Ryobi leaf blower with extra batteries and a charger for around $1100. The batteries last only 15 minutes. I had to constantly go back to the garage and get another battery while the one I was using gets charged up. Back and forth every 15 minutes. Then I tries to carry extra batteries well its too much weight to carry just to blow leaves. I did the same thing, returned the leaf blower and batteries. They too gave me a gift certificate and I went to another county and purchased an Echo gas blower.

I purchased a battery powered snowblower and can honestly say it was a waste of money. It was the biggest one that Ryobi sells with two batteries and I bought two more batteries and charger for $1850. I told my work I would be in when I get done clearing the public sidewalk . They said okay. It took four hours to charge up four batteries that run the blower. After four hours I ran it for about an hour clearing the driveway down to the public sidewalk. Then, the batteries were drained. So I took them out to recharge them and I had to wait an hour or so in house room temperature because they were too cold to charge. Then after another four hours of charging I was ready to finish clearing the snow. I called work and said I won't be in today see you tomorrow. It was about 6:30pm in the dark when I got done. Three days later I returned the snowblower and batteries to Home Depot for a refund. They gave me a gift certificate instead of cash. I purchased a Cub Cadet gas snowblower and wad told by the clerk the area I had to clear shouldn't take more than 15 minutes with the Cub Cadet. It took 11 hours with the battery one.

We live in chevy chase and been hearing chain saws and that thing that grinds up the limbs. They start around seven thirty and work all day. Talk about noise, they are much louder than a gas blower.

Only down county neighborhoods have two collections every fall. They are just inside the beltway and a little outside. Most neighborhoods don't have collections and they have much bigger lots with a lot of trees. The people in those neighborhoods could care less about the noise and pollution of gas blowers and vacuum trucks.

I keep hearing chains saws everyday. They start at 7:00 AM and run until it gets dark.

Cutting down four healthy oak trees because you don’t want to rake leaves twice a year (or just mulch with a mower) is a good way to piss off your neighbors who value trees and nature. Why would you live in an environment that you don’t even like? Just move to a condo and let the trees live.

Its their property they can do what they want. They will be saving all the money every year in leaf clean ups. I think its a smart move. If their neighbors knew how much they were spending they would agree.

Oh please. I grew up here and curb collection has been the regular practice for decades. If that pisses off your neighbors then that is their own personal problem. Tell them to buy a rake if they care so much.

Almost all of them blew away in other neighbor's yards. I think we will do this every year.
