Surprised that Ga Tech doesn't show up anywhere...though on the flip side you have schools like Montana Technological University ahead of UT Austin, UCSD et al.

I assume some of the results are locational...why UC Santa Cruz and San Jose State do very well.

Gatech ranked 60 for per capita IB placement

Kids at GT are brilliant and actually creating ideas and things to enrich and make people’s lives in this world better. You are on here talking about IB, hedge funds and Wall Street. Lol Go away

Brilliant is subjective, SAT scores are 1440. Outcomes are decent for the type of school it is.

GT is a great school.

https://news.em.gatech.edu/2025/03/31/final-decision-release-fall-2025-first-year/ 12% acceptance overall 9% OOS (for a public!)

GT engineering is the real deal and no Ivy comes close. Sure, there are weaker in-state students but is that all bad? And GT has been test required since fall 2022 to there is not test option skewing the stats like at the Ivies.
pre test optional data indicates GT has similar to UVA, still below ivy/stanford/duke by a significant amount

Pre-test optional GT had the highest average scores among publics

When adjusted for college sizes, GT and UCB are the only public’s in the top 20.

That's some time ago now. For any prospective engineering student, Georgia Tech is very much an elite school.

But it is a public school with certain legally-binding mandates. Like the UCs. Like Texas. Like UNC. Like UVA.

If Georgia Tech didn't have to deal with that, it'd be right up there with MIT and Stanford in engineering.

If one wants the smartest peer group possible for engineering, GT is not where they go.

Anything with a rigorous licensing process that exists outside the school structure (for example nursing license , physician license) and has a shortage = school does not matter. It may matter if you want a certain prestigious job like academics or teaching but otherwise no.
