Kid is truly in the middle of the class in most ways. Mix of honors and on level classes, highest math is AP Stats (no calculus). UW GPA and test scores around the 50th %ile for the class. Good EC's but nothing amazing.

Spent an avg of $35k per year for 12 years for kid to end up at Alabama…..it is what it is….we provided the tools and she chose Alabama….oh well.

I am very proud of my daughter. Obviously not shooting for the ivies, but this school truly used a holistic approach. Her why Wisconsin essay was actually mentioned in her admissions letter. There is more to a child than gpa and test scores. Apply wherever, you may actually be surprised.

Happy for your kid, but that was very unusual for a kid without some kind of hook. Nothing is impossible, but one has to think what is reasonably likely when making college app decisions.

The poster said non big 3 and no calculus. So think about a kid graduating from st Andrews, field or holy child, without calculus in the middle of the class - that type of student is not ending up at BC, tufts or wake even with ED full pay. Be realistic. These kids end up at great schools, but not top 50 university or top 25 SLAC. Focus on fit, ED and if being full pay can give the kid a bump. I’ve seen similar kids apply and get into well known colleges like Syracuse, college of Charleston, etc.
