I'm not sure how much they care. Whether they're fielding the best team, or just a team of 23 or 24 girls, they're still hitting their quota. And there will always be 23 or 24 girls willing to pay and play. In some regions they have 4 teams per age group, clearly everyone knows this is just about them making money, and yet people still pay to be on the 4th team. People can say all they want it's about the experience or the exposure, but in the end most girls playing in this region don't need either. It's about getting to say you made it and seeing your name on a roster. The even itself is meh.

I’m sorry, there is shame earned on this one. Two girls did not receive offers because two players who did not earn them felt entitled? This is a stain on the parents and the organization. So embarrassing.

There is no shame, and casting it at teenagers is not a good look.

My DD was physically there, tried out, made it, so this isn’t personal.

If she had been injured or had some type of family emergency issue, however, I would definitely have considered sending in film and applying. For Sophomore’s in particular, missing because of an injury is a really tough thing. Film evaluation is legitimate if done by the same evaluators.

Spare me the pearl clutching, you parent who would demand special treatment because you or your daughter is so self important.

This is not “special treatment.” Elite athletes train very hard and get injured more frequently. If a region wants to field the best team, it is absolutely appropriate (and fair) to allow injured athletes to submit film for evaluation purposes. That is meritocracy - not just which kids happened to be in town & available to tryout on a given Sunday. Relax.

I feel silly now, and apologize those who initially made the truthful claim. I still don’t quite understand why American Select would risk damaging their reputation in this case. Great post! Lots of keyboard warriors on this forum and would never think twice about approaching someone and say what they post on here. Lots of cowards hiding. Be happy for the kids that made the team.

Just say who the parents are and I’d be happy to let them know how I feel. Until then, this anonymous forum is the best I can do, fellow anonymous forum poster.

I know kids that are great players who missed out this year or last and I know the kids and families who made it this year or last.

At no point should GROWN A$$ ADULTS be taking shots at kids who made the team or not.

The whole those kids get special treatment is ridiculous they earned their opportunity and if American Select didn’t work out go and try to earn their opportunity somewhere else.

I know I’ll be cheering for these kids at American Select, NB, Apex 60 or whatever they do.
