I’m an attorney with 15 years experience making around 150k. I hardly think that is some wildly outlandish salary for a mid-career attorney. Hell I make a lot less than the tech bros straight out of college.
Totally agree. too am an attorney and I think attorney salaries, and some other advanced degrees and tech fields, are far from outlandish.
But TBH, there’s a lot of employees in various administrative and HR-type roles that hang around government long enough and get paid way more than they should or would in the private sector. And I think a lot of feds know this if they’re being honest.
This would make the tiniest smidgen of a difference in the grand scheme of cutting costs from the overall federal budget, but it also isn’t something I’d personally have a problem with as a result of this DOGE effort, to have some sort of assessment and reset of grade inflation.
It also may help with optics and perception. Going back to the initial point, I don’t think the average lawyer salary is the problem. However, DOGE and MAGA world will also say there’s too many lawyers, and you can chop that with less regulations, enforcement and oversight.

As long as it gets the job done, that’s fine with me. It’s supposed to be about efficiency and cost savings. Eliminate the positions as quickly as possible and save the taxpayers money. It doesn’t need to be fancy!
This is where you think waste is? OMG.
You’re the one complaining about the simple site. Do you want them to spend more money on it? They are focused on Draining the Swamp, not web design.
They’re focused on lining their own pockets while hoodwinking fools like you.
No. They are delivering on their campaign promise and voter mandate to Drain the Swamp. His base is quite happy with these moves. Do you still not get that?

That’s a ton of money! Especially for people who mostly work from home. Eliminating tens of thousands of positions at $80K a pop is a huge savings. You Feds really are out of touch. That is a huge amount of money for the average American in flyover country. Just wow.
Feds don’t mostly work from home. Most work in the office. And how is it out of touch?
It’s out of touch to act like an $80K/year salary is nothing and shouldn’t be a target for government waste investigations. That was my point.
I didn't say it was nothing, I said it wasn't wasteful. Do you think $80k is an unreasonable salary for a 47 year old who is 2-3 decades into their career? What do you make?
Also most of my agency is in the field, can't WFH, and outside DC. But try again.

I wonder if those numbers next to the agencies are ranking system..

Many make more than $80K, you know that. I’m sure the argument is that DC cost of living is high, but well, not for long!
Many private sector people make more than $80k too. What's your point?
Yes but they must produce in order to keep their jobs. They don’t have some lifetime entitlement to employment. See how that’s different?
There is no rhyme or reason for what the muskrats are doing and trying to claim it somehow relates to productivity is BS. DC’s job actually brings money into the federal government but she’ll likely get fired because she’s 1.5 years into 2 year probation period. No one else in her region does her work. So much for productivity.
