If the Republicans ban gender-affirming care there goes Viagra. And Rogaine.

But the doctors ARE the ones deciding if it is an emergency.
Katie’s Cox doctor didn’t feel it was an emergency. Why is this so hard to understand? SHE went to court against the state because she wanted to be granted a medical exception.
Please find a case where a doctor preformed an abortion because they deemed a situation a medical emergency and were then found guilty of providing an illegal abortion.

why on earth would a doctor put their practice on the line, including jail time, to provide what they deem "medical emergency" when a lawyer can decide what is or is not an emergency?
I hope you or your loved one never finds themselves in this position. Or maybe you should so that you have some empathy for these women. Seems like some people have to learn the hard way.
And let's be clear about this -- if they risk an investigation (not even a conviction, but a complaint made by anybody leading to an investigation), then their license is likely to be suspended, their privileges suspended, and all their other patients left in the cold without care.
What if you are the “other patient” coming next with the same issue? Same doctor will still leave you to die. There needs to be transparency in care. Yes gop are 100 percent at the root of the problem, but women should not be faced with doctors who refuse to save their lives. Clearly some doctors do intervene faster still, and not all women get treated the same way. I suspect they intervene a lot faster if the woman seems wealthy and with means to sue.
Then you, also, deserve to live under better laws that allow doctors to practice medicine.
Hey, blame doctors all you want, but if you are going to make sure they are punished no matter what they do, they will leave. They will leave by retiring, or moving to blue states, or taking a different job, or just restricting their practice to non-obstetrical gynecology.
You can't force doctors to be the sacrificial lamb for your policies here, and you shouldn't. You should let them just be doctors and do their jobs as they were trained.
I have never voted gop and the blame does lie with them (I stated so). I think you sound extremely callous in your view though. You are literally stating that a doctor’s license suspension is more valuable than a woman’s life.

You neglect to mention that in Kate Cox's case, she had already had two C-sections putting her at higher risk of uterine rupture along with being unable to have another child which she desired to do after that pregnancy. Furthermore, she was carrying an infant with trisomy 18 among other complications; carrying trisomy 18 is associated with higher risk of gestational diabetes, preterm delivery to include emergent csection. No, she was not in immediate risk. However, not granting her an abortion did mean increased risk for her of which uterine rupture is significant. I would get an abortion in her shoes without hesitation.
I do not understand your casual dismissal of this case.
