Shapiro has too many distractions. He’s for school vouchers. His previous statements on Palestinians are incredibly disturbing. One of his top aides had a sexual harassment record and Shapiro didn’t care. He is clearly gunning to be president himself. Not a good choice

Kinda shocked Kelly didn't get it. His background is custom tailored for the White House. And I saw his debate footage with Black Masters - Kelly can absolutely hold his own and has that commanding presence & quiet confidence.

There must've been something really bad that turned up in vetting. It really was Kelly's to lose. Super curious at this turn.

If Harris/Walz lose in November, Shapiro is in a prime position to be the automatic front runner in 2028.

I like Shapiro a lot but his previous statements are a distraction in this current political environment. People have short memories though and who knows what the landscape will look like in ~10 years, when he’ll be 61 - a very normal age to run for pres. Plus I think he needs to stay as Gov longer - he’s only in his first term.

Given everything going on Israel right now, the dual loyalty thing could've totally splintered the Democrats and it will always haunt Shapiro given the IDF story. I say this as a Jew who knows the antisemitic tropes too well.

Not to mention creating a constitutional crisis if he ever had to serve in her stead as Commander in Chief.

Jew here. Jews have been the target of this since before Israel existed. Not always considered a citizen by the country they were born into and live in. The divided loyalty thing is definitely a long-running anti-semitic trope and Shapiro having volunteered in Israel and worse, on a military base plays right into it. All it takes is for someone to say, "You volunteered for the IDF and not your own military, why?" It's devastating because even if it's misleading, it paints him with suspicion rightly or wrongly and it will follow him for his career.

Better choice than Shapiro even if the latter was better logically. Make no mistake - Walz is not naive nor is he less able than Shapiro. I'd argue that his political acumen is quite strong. Part of politics is making friends and. King across as down to earth and likeable which he has done in spades. I bet this is what impressed Kamala - I'm sure in private he's 10000% different. Very saavy, very smart. Shapiro's issue is that he is too emotional and he's already shown his cards - in politics you need to come across as an ally to whatever cause the VIPs want you to be for and Walz def is the winner v Shapiro in that game.


Kamala is sitting pretty, Trump should be even more worried. Shapiro was the easier one to disparage as he had more enemies. We shall see how this plays out but it def got more interesting!

so happy with Walz!!! He's the real deal and is not afraid to call out Trump and Vance for what they are. I do like Shapiro and as a Jew am sad that the prospect of a Jewish candidate brought out the ugliest side of my party, but he's not ready for national politics yet. He's great for PA and he'll campaign for her there. Walz is an amazing choice and he'll appeal to blue collar, regular folks who are looking for something that isn't Trump. Walz is the kind of guy who can grab a beer with and have a real, open honest conversation about what you want for America. He'll be great meeting with people in diners, coffee shops, small town meetings. LFG!!!!

I'll bet it's the charisma thing. He's not the classic barnstormer, glad-handing type. Walz seems like he'll shine on tv as folks get to know him. He seems very relatable, not divorced, and not from the same area of the country. He also has military service and executive governing experience. He might also just not have any baggage the way the others did. Kelly seems like the classic, quiet hero type and that's great except it doesn't play well when you need someone to attack. Also, if they want to keep the Arizona Senate seat, keeping Kelly there is probably better. Finally, Harris might just like working with Walz more and won't have to look over her shoulder the way she might with Shapiro.

Kelly did not have a lot of pizazz beyond the resume. And I agree with PP that there was probably something that came out during vetting. His wife has been disabled for a long time. I’m a woman and pragmatic so I wouldn’t be mad at him for wanting physical intimacy with someone. But it would tarnish his public image as a loyal husband.

This isn’t something that was actually happening, at least not with American Jews who vote for Dems.

I just listened to him speak because I never had before. I am sold. He seems very dynamic, common sense, is sort of cute for an older man even. I see the Steve Martin thing.
