Do more students need to go into journalism? Was there a dearth of anchors for this network? they continue to show or interview Sdogg at the women's beach v-ball. Why? Do they have no one else!!!?

I wondered this too but it sounds like she might have had food poisoning -- I feel like I heard them talking about how she'd been throwing up? Otherwise I feel like it's surprising she was't wearing a mask especially since the only event she competed in was vault -- their first rotation and she went first. So if she'd had a respiratory virus it would have been easy for her to mask after competing without it disrupting her preparation for other events.

China had a rough day on gymnastics and when you see a whole team struggling you have to wonder if they caught the bug. It's too bad because you obviously want to see the best in the world at their best.


That's what I was thinking too. She and her father were both sick, and no one seemed concerned about their illness being contagious. It's very possible they both ate somewhere and then got hit with stomach issues.

The ads are nuts. We’d see 1-2 gymnasts go, then several long ads. It felt like more than 1/3. And my whole family was losing it on the split screen during swimming. So disappointed in NBC.

I don't mind the personal interest stuff, it's always been a part of Olympic coverage and it's easier than ever to skip (and my kid loved meeting the cat), but the split screen ad during the race last night was nuts.

Clots in young fit athletes are sometimes missed. There have been recent cases with young basketball and football players.

NP. When I had one, they did blood tests and an ultrasound to diagnose it. It's not something that a doctor/physical therapist can definitively diagnose by physical examination alone.

Ultra fit Serena Williams and swimmer Katie Hoff both had pulmonary embolisms, which can stem from DVTs.

They showed uneven bars during the 8 o’clock hour. I definitely saw Suni Lee’s bar routine. I missed the first 45 minutes, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t show Simone Biles’ vault.
