And now we get the orange man or kacula Harris. Quite the boomer upside down we have going here. At least it’s entertaining.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this was a typo and not an immature Trump-like intentional misstatement.

And Harris isn't a boomer

By the definition, she is, but only by two months. Certainly her lived experience is more of a GenX.

Shes a boomer, Genx is just as bad but she's a boomers

But he doesn't think he can go for four more years. That's the whole point. He has stepped out and passed the torch to a new generation. But a great man.

A great man would have announced their intent not to seek another term in 2023 so that their party would have the opportunity to nominate a normal candidate for the 2024 POTUS race through a competitive process. Thanks to Biden's selfishness, party leaders are appointing a nominee to replace him after he embarrassed the country and party. Biden is a step up from Trump but he is far, far from "great man" territory.

Why won't you stop it? He always said once he received the data and was able to consider it he would make a decision. That's what he did.

So saddened by and tired of people like you who flat out refuse to actually listen to what he's saying and watch how he's conducted his life.

You are determined to tear us all down.

“How he has conducted his life” ??

He was a hold-out for racial segregation, made innumerable racist comments, and has continuously lied about his accomplishments (or lack of evidence them) along the way.

And over the course of his life, he evolved to the point that he was a champion for civil rights, for HBCU funding, equity on the judicial bench, serving as a VP to the first president of color and president to the first female VP also of color, and then endorsing her for president. Not a bad life lived.

Remember, people are influenced by their surroundings. Clearly he wasn't exposed to a life of diversity in his younger years, but then again, that would have been 1950's Scranton.

Biden is old school. Bless him.

Same here. I bawled. I feel safe in Biden’s America. He is a special person - humble, kind, authentic, warm, wise, and a unifier. His age provided wisdom. I will truly miss him in the White House and political landscape. God bless him.

Dear lord. We have not been living in the same country the past 3 1/2 years.

Biden has been anything but a unifier. He can talk all he wants about unity but he absolutely has not walked the talk. And do all kind, warm, authentic men deny the existence of their granddaughter for years and have yet to meet her?

You have bought into the media’s remake of Biden. Those of us who have been around a while know better.

Well, it is true, he has been warning about the racists and fascists, so if you are one of those, I can see where you feel you are on the outside looking in.

Did your mother ever tell you that if you can't say something nice then just keep quiet. He put his country first. This is the act of a patriot

DP. Just stop. You slobbering all over this egotistical old man who had to be forced out is beyond cringeworthy.

Also - how many nasty comments have you made about Trump? And yet, you sanctimoniously lecture others about “saying something nice.”

But Biden’s actions ultimately were selfless. He is stepping down. He has acted for the greater good throughout his presidency. I’m sorry you can’t see this, but Biden, and Obama before him, have extended the hand to Republicans, over and over again.

You can’t actually be pretending to yourself that had high-level Democrats not been forcing him to withdraw, he would have done so on his own? As late as just a few days ago, he was adamant that he would NOT be withdrawing and was extremely testy and rude to anyone who asked him about it. A selfless person would have made this decision a year ago. We all know this, but the gaslighting is now just part of the left’s MO.

No. It’s letting someone who has done an enormous amount for our party and the country for his entire life (and during times of enormous personal tragedy) leave with as much dignity as possible.

Imagine how much dignity he could have left with a year ago - or even a few months ago - had he voluntarily decided not to run again and given the DNC all the time they needed to vote on new candidates. That would indeed have been dignified and praise-worthy. Alas, that's not what happened.

But then the voters might have picked someone not acceptable to deep pocketed donors. And let’s be real, it’s their party, not yours.

Wrong. It is about avoiding a divisive primary process that could destroy the current coalition, rather than having a unifying ability to defeat Trumpism.

Anonymous wrote:He's a good person, and a good leader. Effective (as effective as one could be in this climate, at least), steady, predictable, reliable, and compassionate. The world is a better place for having people like Joe Biden in it.

I'm glad he stepped away from the race, as I don't think he has it in him to finish the campaign let alone another 4 years in office. But I'm also sad for him, and for our country that he had to do so.

More cynically (but also optimistically), I think he set Harris up well by staying in as long as he did. If he'd dropped out 6 months ago, or declined to run at all, Democrats would be very divided on Harris vs other candidates. By waiting until now to drop out, we are much more ready to unify behind Harris without a food fight on the left. She comes into this race from a position of strength now, with no primary battle scars. So what some see as selfishness on his part, for staying in this long - I think his departure was actually well timed.

I agree with this. Also the timing after the RNC was very strategic.
