Subject: How to ace the HOPE
Well one of my friend moved within Fairfax during last summer and her child attended a new school starting second grade. The child received horrible HOPE rating with four NEVERs with good (not spectacular) NNAT/COGAT/Iready scores. She's appealing based on the reason that the child was adapting to a new environment thus not expressing talented behaviors. (given that the rating was done in Nov.)
The lesson is, think twice about moving after 1st grade!
