Personally, I'm glad to see crime dropping from last year's highs, even if it's still too high. Dropping but still up from the 2010s is better than continuing to rise.

This is concerning. Even if you tend not to be out late, may need to be on occasion. Also concerning for those who work irregular schedules. Hope this man pulls through.

That poor woman needs HELP - substance abuse and mental health treatment, this is inhumane. A monthly voucher is still far less than 1 day of treatment at St. E's, look up the rates for yourself. It's all dressed up as progressive but this woman is clearly ill.

It's a disaster for families who used to live in buildings along Connecticut and Wisconsin for the schools. And for retirees who are stuck living next to the drug addicts and criminals who are prioritized for vouchers.

Don't believe the hype about how things are stabilizing in DC, they are not. The city squanders money with little to no oversight. The woman in the article is a human being. She may also be being exploited by her "boyfriend" imo.

Not actually down. Was a very short lived pattern that was seized on as a propaganda point.

What IS down is USAO prosecution rates, still far below pre-covid levels, even with DOJ "surged resources." Graves has said that restoring prior rates is NOT a goal. The DC Crime Facts Substack and X account cite case after case where USAO did not prosecute and the suspect later kills. The laxity just seems to embolden criminals.

Shooting in Dupont Circle last night. Guy kicked out of Decades (people still go there apparently) came back with a gun and shot 5 people. Thankfully there was a quick response by MPD and Secret Service and an arrest was made.

Even in the 90s Dupont was pretty safe. Like Union Station.
