NP, it’s well known that white, upper middle class, striver Takoma Park families send their kids to CAP. Very few go to the magnet, either because they are more interested in lefty social activist type subjects or because they don’t get in. It’s much more difficult to get in to the magnet than CAP.

The number of local Takoma Park kids in CAP is many times the number of local kids in the magnet. And as has been mentioned, that is reflected in the kids taking the bus after 9th period.

From the discussion here it sounds like maybe allegedly (according to one poster) more local kids got in to the magnet this year than in current years. But that doesn’t relate to the current composition.

Of DC's friends, I know of 8 TKPK neighood kids who got into SMCS and only 1 who got into CAP. Similarly, 3 of my direct neighbors had SMCS kids but none went to CAP. Your assumptions don't line up well with my data.

Your anecdotes aren’t data. The composition of the magnet/CAP bus has more bearing than a pocket of Takoma park.

I could tell you (because it’s true) that I know at least six local kids currently in CAP (and constantly hear of more practically everytime I talk to an acquaintance about Blair) and only one in the magnet. But that’s also just an anecdote.

Also for those who seem unable to grasp this, we’re talking about kids who live in Takoma park (TKPK) not kids who go to TPMS and could live anywhere as it seems to be a point of misunderstanding.

Look up online academic awards of various kinds that Blair students have one, and check the hometown of named students. Try it, and see how unbalanced the results are.
