So, yes, there are differences in interpretation, though those differences aren't as prononounced as some people make them.

Some seem to believe (or wish to believe) that with the Jesuits they have found some sort of "Catholic Lite" middle ground in which they are free to do what they like and espouse the positions they prefer versus those of the Catholic church.

I'd agree with the poster above. The Episcopal Church (and schools) is where they belong.

As far as I know, the Jesuits are very accepting of LGBTQ people and affirm their lives and families.

Well, like not asking permission to record for example. With that being said, trust has been broken. He is in an admin position handing out 'demerits' along with support, right? The kids need to trust him. I read him as a very nice person with good intentions, but many of the children he works with will have their trust-meters out without some kind of explanation or reparative process. And maybe neither he or the school wants to wade into that? I agree that the school was overtaken by social currents, and needs a transparent policy on children seeking allies. Transparent to the children, to the faculty, to the parents. Put it in the handbook. And I trust that the school will handle this with compassion and dignity. I wish him well. Again, don't think this came from a bad place at all.

“I don’t think it came from a bad place”. It is very difficult to see into the hearts and minds of others. But clearly this teacher is acting in opposition to the mission of the school and is subverting the teachings of the church. He’s doing it in a subtle way (many of you say already, who cares about genderless bathrooms?!) but it is a calculated effort to make it seem the”norm” or nothing to think twice about. When in fact, it’s perpetuating the lie that gender is fluid (whatever THEY are calling it these days) which is opposite of the church’s teachings. This is how you change culture- push the envelope and hope everyone goes along with it. The problem is that this school has veered so far left, it really has an identity problem. Just flip secular if you are leaning toward embracing secular beliefs. Concerned Catholic Parents need to rise up!
