Totally worshiped the Preppy Handbook.
A few of my monogram sweaters too!
You are my person. I had that same look but also with little white, monogrammed collared shirts to go under the sweaters, to interchange with the animal-motif turtlenecks. Pink wide-wales. Seasonal Bermuda bag covers, with my favorite one being Christmas - hunter green with vines of red strawberries and my monogram (natch) in the center. This was my middle school look - once I hit high school, it was all about the layered polos and Bennetton rugbies.![]()
I’m pp. I had Kelly green wide wales that I wore with my hot pink sweater in middle school. I wore the Limited Firenze v-neck sweater backwards in HS.
I did too! With a long knotted strand of fake pearls. So chic!![]()

What about those banana hair clips that were hinged? My hair is so fine that I could never get it to stay in but I coveted that look. Apparently it's back?

Also remembering those jelly bracelets in bright colors. I would wear like 20 of them on each arm.

Gawd, yes -- these were ubiquitous at my college, worn backwards, often with pearls and Bean slippers. Years later, when my daughter was born, my roommate sent a Lanz toddler gown as a gift.
I'm dying to know where you went and what year. I really don't remember that as a thing for college students! Maybe you were early 80s, back in the gunnesax day? I had floral VS cotton PJs to take to college -- they had a little lace trim at the neck -- those were really popular.
Take a guess!
Thanks for starting this thread, OP -- reminds me of DCUM from days of yore, when it was fun!
You wore flannel nightgowns backwards with pearls in college? WTF. Was this to class or just around the dorms?
Anonymous wrote:I had the cutest flat leather loafers---sort of a cross ballet flat but with a slight loafer cut. I wore them so much my freshman year that I literally wore holes in the soles. Loved Benetton sweaters and Esprit cotton pants. Had a Gucci camera case purse that I adored---bought in Italy. This was pre-Tom Ford Gucci reboot so could still afford.

Pegging?
Don’t google that
