While I don't agree with Haley's stance on abortion, I appreciate her being as thorough, open, and honest as any candidate on either side when articulating why she is pro-life. She has a deeply personal reason for being pro-life but she makes it clear that she respects other peoples personal views on abortion that may differ from her's. You can call Trump a fascist wannabe and that's fair but calling Haley a fascist is just blind partisan ignorance in the same manner it would be for a Republican to call Biden a communist. We're only set back further from a return to political normalcy when being this stubbornly partisan. Haley is unlikely to ever get my vote but we'd all be better off if someone with her integrity was the leader of one of two major parties relative to Trump being in that position. We should all make an effort to distinguish between the good/normal/decent and bad/abnormal/indecent within our party and the opposing party instead of painting all with one brush.
If she’s willing to go along with the GOP’s forced birth abortion bans, whether or not she puts a better spoken face on it, that’s fascistic.
Oh look, she’s putting a kinder, gentler face on the policies that would send women back to the dark ages: “As a governor and a state legislator, she supported anti-abortion laws and continues to pledge to sign the most restrictive one that would reach her desk.” And you could bet your bottom dollar that she would put more forced birther judges on the Supreme Court, too.
So, no. I will not go along with your attempt to put a happy smiley face on the fire boiling us slowly vs cooking us instantly. I cannot believe that anyone is willing to put a positive spin on forced birther garbage.
+1 Haley as Governor of South Carolina actually signed the six-week abortion ban that went into effect after Roe fell. So while it’s clear that she has the best messaging on this issue and it’s fooling some people, her actions when in power show that she DOES NOT “respect other people’s personal views on abortion that may differ from hers.”

Are you sure she is a Republican?
She and maybe Christie at times are clearly the only people on that stage that can articulate a case for being considered for POTUS.
Agree. I would feel comfortable with either of them as POTUS and I generally vote for democrats. Depressing that Trump is so far ahead.
+1, I think they are doing a great job staying the course for when Trump inevitably is convicted of something in one of the criminal matters. The Dems should be worried if Haley somehow emerges with the nomination. I’ve never voted for a R for president before but I would vote for Haley over Biden.
I really don't see republican voters lining up behind Nimarata against Trump.
Haley won two terms as governor of in the conservatively red state of South Carolina. Republicans didn't hesitate to line up for her then and they wouldn't in a general presidential election either. Overtaking Trump for the nomination may not be possible but as the PP noted, if/when Trump was forced out with legal troubles, Republicans would have a replacement they could actually be proud of.
A much better case scenario for the country would be both Trump and Biden dropping out with the parties instead nominating people like Haley and Whitmer. What a breath of fresh air it would be for the country to have a choice between two experienced executives that are in the prime of their careers and moderate enough to lead all the people in fair manner. Both Whitmer and Haley are obviously more fit than Trump and Biden to serve the country well as POTUS and it would be entertaining for all the right reasons to see them together on a debate stage as opposed to the Trump/Biden debates of 2020 that were frankly an embarrassment for the country. The political policy differences between the parties aren't the cause of our dysfunction in government; it's the people in leadership positions in government that are causing the dysfunction. I certainly wouldn't agree with many of the political viewpoints of both Haley and Whitmer but I would be content with either of them in office knowing we have a very decent and highly competent person serving in the most important and powerful position in the world.
Dream on. This country won't elect a competent woman or we would never have been stuck with trump for 4 years. One day yes but in 2024? We just overturned roe for Pete's sake.
Maybe not in your dark, isolated, sexist corner of the world but most everyone else doesn't care what the gender of the candidate is. It's the quality of the candidate that matters. Grow up.
Yea, Trump was and is a quality candidate. If you don’t agree, then you’re as immature as Trump?

Out of that lot I like those two the best. I’ve always liked Chris Christie. I think it’s a shame that he had such a sharp decline after the bridge fiasco. Somebody up thread wondered if it was weight discrimination. Maybe but that’s a shame because he is on the moderate side.
The "bridge fiasco" should have ended his political career.
Still, he is the best GOP on that stage, which is why he doesn't stand a chance, because he is too sane.
I'm not going to vote for a Republican at this point, but if Haley or Christie became president I wouldn't feel the sick dread that I will feel if Trump became president again.
