This has turned out to be a ridiculous thread. All the complainers please send your kids there for a year and see how they do then come back and report.

Are they deceiving kids into thinking that admission is likely, or not?

Nobody but you said anything about deception.

If you have to beg for applicants, it’s a bad look no matter whether you are University of Phoenix or University of Chicago.

sorry dude every organization markets… colleges, clubs, churches, everything, and of course for profit businesses. All of them. Every one.

It’s not some kind of evil conspiracy when selective colleges do it.

You’re just wrong.

How is that negative or positive on any institution?
If they don’t send them to everyone, people will say they are not inclusive.

lol good try

The weekly flyers make the school look desperate. They are like the creepy guy with a boombox outside your window from that old movie. No other good school acts like a crazed stalker.

Chicago sent a lot. So did Washington, JHU, UNC, and Vanderbilt. The Ivies sent only one each. Berkeley sent four. CalTech sent two. Duke sent three or four.

Idk about others but mine rejected them as he had better options so its not personal for us. Its a great school, just plays too many games to stay up in rankings.

This sounds so crazy defensive to me. Anyone can see the school is gaming the system. Do you not like how obvious that is?

I’m a University of Chicago legacy and school donor, and I hate the direction the school has taken. It’s frankly embarrassing.

Do not.

A year or two ago there was a poster who really went after Hopkins. They were extremely upset for several days.
