MAGA types here, what's your take?
Ummm, yeah thats simple. None of this would have happened under Trump, thats what happens when you have a strong leader. Inflation wouldnt have spiked to levels we havent seen in 40 years, mortgages wouldnt be at 7.5 percent, and gas certainly wouldnt be over 4 dollars a gallon.
But those mean tweets about Rosie Odonnell
Erm, yes all of that would have happened, and probably worse because he would have tried to lower taxes further. I see you're out of touch with reality, nor the fact that the US management of post pandemic inflation has been better than other developed countries and jobless rate is the lowest in the past century.
So remind me what Trump would have done besides tweeting from the pooper with his boxes of classified docs?
Are we better off than we were in 2020?
DP. Actually yeah. We are definitely better off than in 2020. The country is back open. International and national travel is up. The GDP is greater. We are out of a 20. Year war albeit we seem to be heading into a new one. Housing is still strong. Unemployment is lower for all demographics. Stock market, 401k, pensions and IRA’s are steady. The protesting in the streets have been abated. Democracy seems to be winning over authoritarianism.
Interesting take. Inflation hurting everyone, crime up, wide open southern border, education system broken, etc, would say the bad news outweighs the good news by at least a 2 to 1 margin.
No, we have to ignore all those things. Keep up with the approved narrative.![]()

Is it truly better for every rung in society? Are homes more affordable for young people without parental help? Are blue-collar workers better off today? Can they raise a family above subsistence living? Has the middle class expanded?

I feel like a lot hinges on Iran. I really wish the US and some allies could just get it over with and topple that regime. It's what Iranians want. If they could elect a secular government, it would change so much in that part of the world.
Ah, the arrogance of Americans. We always think we can just topple regimes like they’re a bunch of little kids.
Iranians have been trying to topple their own regime for decades. The rest of the world can help, and it would go a long way toward stabilizing a huge part of the world.
The Shah’s family would like to have a word.
the shah? umm the shah was a US puppet that was installed to keep Iranian oil cheap for British Petroleum. Iran had an elected parliamentary system that was dismantled by the USA, the actual beef with Israel is not religious, it was b/c Israel did the US a favor by supporting the Shah puppet regime that was a monarchy that was forced by the west on the Persians. It was in the interest f both turkey and Iran to have good ties with Israel, the turks actually managed to keep the good ties until the 2nd intifada when there was too much anti-israel sentiment that was harnessed by Erdogan. Anyways teh pahlavis have never been legitimate governors of Iran.

You have to pair that with disincentives for people coming here.

+1
And we've been hearing for years about how young men are so lost, can't find their place in the world, can't find jobs/partners, don't know what it means "to be a man" anymore. I'm certainly not hoping for any war, let alone a world-wide one, but it's not hard to see how a big war is both a natural consequence of that and a solution to it.
